Coach Youth Soccer: Winning Tactics For Fun Drills
Let this be known! When you Coach Youth Soccer, it becomes a challenge to come up with challenging and interesting drills for the kids. In teaching soccer, it is a huge stress to keep innovating new tricks to make soccer drills enjoyable for kids.
Here are some exercises that you can teach youth soccer players. These help them play the game well and have fun at the same time.
Engage the boys in dribbling and shooting: This is a simple practice that engages all the players. Make the players stand on a single goal line. Now, scatter a lot of balls all over the field. Then, tell the kids to move with the ball towards the opposition’s goal in an attacking position. They should shoot the ball as soon as they can.
This exercise does a lot of good to the energy level, and confidence of the players and at the same time perks their dribbling skills. As the players do not have any opposing players, it makes them showcase their personal styles too.
Teach them to pass the ball: Tell the kids to position themselves at the far end of the field. Start counting till 3 and when you finish, order them to run to you as fast as they can. When they are running towards you, they should also try to take over the ball from the other player who has it. When you say stop, the player who has the ball must pass it to another player.
When you coach youth soccer, these drills bring out the best in kids when it comes to passing and dribbling. This way, the players also learn a very important skill of snatching the ball from other players.
Touch and Go: This is a very enjoyable game which the kids love. It requires the kids to stand in two rows under 40 meters away from the position of the goal. Also, the goalie should defend the goalpost. Place yourself somewhere between the two queues.
Pass the ball to either of the queue and with only one tap teach them to shoot or pass the ball to another. The objective should be to attack the goal. The goalkeeper must then return the ball and the practice continues.
In case of two or more than two goalies in team, they should be rotated between practice sessions. This sport enables players to perk up their shooting skills through team effort. The goalkeeper becomes skilled at protecting the ball from converting to a goal.
Maintaining the custody of the ball: The players will learn the art to proceed with the ball without losing its possession. Take two players, one acts as the defender and the other attacker. Now let them both play their roles in the field and the one who succeeds to take over another wins a point.
These happen to be the simplest methods to coach youth soccer. When you have your kids do these drills, they’ll not only learn but enjoy as well. You can connect to our youth soccer coaching community to get more of these tips and information.
